Sealed for 55 years, a 1970 Topps baseball cello pack was opened and broken live on the Vintage Breaks stream - and we pulled a Thurman Munson rookie card!
The world has changed a bit over the last half Century. When these baseball cards were sealed inside of this pack by Topps in 1970, you didn't have the Internet. There were no cell phones to read this post with, and only about ten TV channels existed when this pack was first put on a store shelf. We're talking about a time when a box seat to a Yankees game set you back $4.00! It was our pleasure to open this vintage pack for you, and for one of our break-a-maniacs, they went home with a STUNNER.
The entire break is on video below. Lil Rob put on glasses to protect his eyes as he cracked the PSA slab the pack was in. The glasses turned out to be good luck as in spot 9, Rob pulled a Thurman Munson rookie card for Todd Malanowski!
Congrats, Todd! We know you're a huge Yankees fan, so having Munson go home to you made our day. Munson was a two-time World Series champion for the New York Yankees (1977 and 1978), the 1976 AL MVP, a seven-time All-Star, and was Rookie of the Year in 1970. Munson is on the prestigious list of Yankee Captains, having been named so in 1976.
