The 2022 Topps Holiday Baseball Card Short Print and Variations Guide

The 2022 Topps Holiday Baseball Card Short Print and Variations Guide

The 2022 Topps Holiday baseball cards are here, and with Christmas this weekend you might have wrapped a box or two to put under the tree. Maybe you've already ripped a box or two for yourself! Make sure to keep an eye out for the holiday insert cards. To help you out, we have an easy trick to find a short print (SP), Rare, or Ultra Rare insert card.

HOW TO SPOT 2022 TOPPS HOLIDAY VARIATIONS

Some of the insert cards in the Holiday set are pretty easy to spot; you might see a Christmas tree behind Aaron Judge, Julio Rodriguez sporting a Santa Claus hat, or Mike Trout wearing Ice Skates. There are inserts that are a little harder to spot and you could fly right by a rare insert! Juan Soto is wearing a Santa Claus belt in his Rare card, and you probably aren't looking at player's belt, right?

Turn your card over so the stats are facing you. Look very bottom of the card in the center. Here you will find in bold CODE# and a series of numbers. The last THREE digits in this code will indicate whether you have a base card, short print, or super short print. Take a close look as these codes are in tiny print!

  • Base cards will end in #811
  • Short Prints will end in #819
  • Rare will end in #820
  • Ultra Rare will end in #821

The odds of finding a variation are as follows:

  • Short Print = 1 in 7 packs
  • Rare = 1 in 20 packs
  • Ultra Rare = 1 in 160 packs

Here is the front of the Juan Soto rare card. We love the festive design on the boarder and the snowflakes falling, but that Santa Claus belt is easily overlooked! Soto is wearing Santa's belt; you can see the big, gold buckle.

Here is the back of the card. At the bottom you can see the code ends in 820:

We'd love to see you pull a Holiday insert or even one of the Santa Claus autographs! The odds of pulling an autograph from Santa Claus is 1 in 14,060 packs.
