Brewers Rookie, Jacob Misiorowski, Named MLB All-Star after Just Five Starts

Jacob Misiorowski was named to the MLB All-Star team for the National League, taking place on Tuesday night. The Brewers pitcher is stirring up controversy, though; he's only made FIVE career starts

Some baseball players go an entire career without being named an All-Star in the annual Mid-Summer Classic. Kirk Gibson, who enjoyed a 17-year career, comes to mind. Gibson won two World Series championships (Tigers in 1984 and Dodgers in 1988) including the greatest walk-off home run of our generation in that '88 Series. Amazingly, Gibson was NOT named to the 1988 All-Star team despite winning the MVP that year! Imagine: MVP but not an All-Star. Milwaukee Brewers rookie, Jacob Misiorowski, is making headlines this week by being named to the NL squad. Misiorowski hasn't played 17 seasons like Gibson, though. In fact, he hasn't even played 17 games.

Chicago Cubs pitcher, Matthew Boyd, will be inactive for the game. Misiorowski was named as a replacement. This year, Misiorowski made is MLB debut under a month ago by taking the mound for the fist time on June 12th, 2025.  His record stands at 4-1 after five starts with an ERA of 2.81 over 25.2 innings while racking up 33 strikeouts. At no time has Misiorowski pitched beyond the 6th inning of a game in the bigs. The Brewers have two other players on the All-Star roster and BOTH are pitchers: Trevor Megill and Freddy Peralta.

Several other players around the sport have voiced their opinions. Multiple players on the Philadelphia Phillies have lashed out at the Misiorowski selection over Cristopher Sanchez. The Philadelphia starter, Sanchez, is 8-2 with a 2.50 ERA and 122 strikeouts. Two players from the Phillies made the roster: Kyle Schwarber (DH) and Zack Wheeler (P).

What do YOU think? Should Jacob Misiorowski have been named an All-Star?

We're not here to judge; we hope Misiorowski has an amazing career! At Vintage Breaks, we're all about the cards. Rather than playing the snub game, we want to cheer on Misiorowski and hunt for his rookie cards. Maybe he'll be the next Clayton Kershaw.

Shout out to our friends, Michael Valle and Caroline Lang, for sharing that lovely photo of the Brewers game you see in this blog! Jacob Misiorowski did not pitch at the game they went to, so this is a photo of #56, Grant Anderson. Hard to get a photo of Misiorowski when he's only pitched in five games...
