When Mike Wolfe and Frank Fritz of American Pickers on the History Channel needed an expert on sports memorabilia they discovered, the first person they phoned for help was our very own Leighton Sheldon from Vintage Breaks.!

American Pickers is a show on the History Channel with antique hunters, Mike Wolfe, Frank Fritz, and Danielle Colby.  Wolfe owns a main shop in Iowa but for years the team has traveled the Country in search of "rusty gold" to pick. While each of the Pickers has a great deal of knowledge in the antique world, they weren't sure about the value of a sports collection they found.  The first person they called - our very own Leighton Sheldon!

Leighton is the owner of Vintage Breaks and our sister company, Just Collect. "L-Train" has over 25 years of experience of buying and selling millions of dollars in sports cards, non-sports, and memorabilia.  Leighton's wax knowledge is how we are able to offer you the card breaks on vintagebreaks.com you love to get in on!  From the most recent product like 2021 Topps Triple Threads to vintage like 1960 Topps baseball packs, Leighton always puts what you want to break on the site.  Through Just Collect, Leighton has purchased entire, rare collections like Grandpa's Shoe Box Collection with a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle rookie card that was stored with jars of pickles, The Fairy Godmother Find that had an ultra-rare T206 Eddie Plank, and the 1914 T222 Fatima Wilcox Hotel Collection that contained rare 1914 T222 Fatima tobacco cards saved from a family's old confectionary store inside their hotel and kept in the family for over 100 years! So when the time came for American Pickers to make a call to appraise a sports memorabilia collection, they called Leighton!

One of the unique items Leighton enjoyed appraising was a photo signed from Shaquille O'Neill TO Dwayne Wade. The photo was never meant for the public so the value could go from 3.5 to 10 times the average value of a Shaq autograph. The picture originally belonged to a family member of Wade's, kept in storage, and then relinquished.

If you want to watch the entire episode and see what else Leighton appraised for Mike and Frank, you can see Season 18, Episode 13, "Slam Dunk Junk" HERE.

If you're interested in a FREE APPRAISAL of your collection, you can reach out to Leighton, too, right HERE.

PS, can we talk about how Leighton's son, Crosby, is just casually playing with Leighton's not one, but TWO Mickey Mantle rookie cards in that photo?  We we were kids we had He-Man and Thundercat toys, not Mantle rookies...
